Our Story: From the Pro Circuit to the Findlay Community

Findlay Jiu-Jitsu Academy (FJJA) wasn’t built in a corporate office—it was forged in the cage and on the mats.

In 2014, while Professor Tyler Beckley was competing as a professional fighter, he felt a calling to share the technical "human chess" of Jiu-Jitsu with his hometown. With the vital support of his then head fight coach, Gary Young, Tyler began teaching his first classes inside the Demolition Fight Team gym in Findlay. That foundation of loyalty and mentorship remains the backbone of our academy today.

A New Chapter: The Move & The Mission

For the first few years, we focused solely on our Adult Program, where Tyler’s wife, Amy Beckley, eventually joined the ranks as a student in 2018. But we knew we wanted to offer something more for the families of Findlay.

The true turning point came when we moved into our own dedicated facility. This new space allowed us to finally launch our Kids’ Program—and that’s when things really took off.

The Power of Education

With the new building came a new standard. Amy, a former NCAA athlete and a professional educator since 2007, stepped in to help structure the youth curriculum. By blending Tyler’s world-class technical knowledge with Amy’s expertise in how children actually learn and develop, we created a program that does more than just teach "moves." We teach discipline, confidence, and character in a structured environment that Findlay families can trust.

The FJJA Today

Today, we are proud to be a true family academy. Whether you are a professional looking for a high-level workout and activity, a competitor chasing a world title, or a parent looking for a positive outlet for your child, you have a place on our mats.
